Innovative Educational Technologies in the Development of Educators Digital Competencies

Abstract

Teacher training has experienced a significant acceleration since the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing educational systems to transition to virtual or hybrid modalities. On the other hand, there is a general consensus on the need for teachers to develop advanced digital skills. At the Luciano Germán Nastacuaz Bilingual Intercultural Community Educational Unit in the Mataje Alto commune of San Lorenzo Canton, deficient use of educational technology was evident, along with a deficient development of teachers' digital skills. This results in students graduating with low technological proficiency, affecting their professional profile. Therefore, the general objective of this study is to design a training plan to strengthen teachers' digital skills. The basic research used a mixed-method, cross-sectional approach. A dichotomous questionnaire was used to collect data, surveying 12 teachers at the aforementioned school. Among the main conclusions, it is highlighted that the implementation of a training program in new educational technologies would positively influence the digital skills of teachers, thereby streamlining the teaching and learning process and bringing students closer to their meaningful learning.
