Effectiveness of Groove cleaning to increase the width of nail plate in involute nails

Abstract

The involute nail is a common onychopathy which generates discomfort in the nail grooves such as oppresive pain, which is caused by the accumulation of onychophosis due to the pressure exerted by nail plate on the lateral folds. Removing onychophosis from the nail grooves relives pressure and improves pain, As the channels are free, the plate can open, increasing its width, which contributes to improving the curvature of the nail plate. In this work, groove cleaning was carried out and the results obtained were: Increase in the width of the nail plate, eliminate pain, avoid an invasive procedure that could generate complications such as: pain, inflation and infection.
