Abstract
The present study analyzed the influence of digital technology
use on the socioemotional development of four-year-old
children at the private early education center “Colmena.” The
general objective was to determine how the pedagogical and guided application of technology fostered emotional
expression, empathy, and social interaction in early childhood.
The specific objectives were to identify the theoretical foundations supporting the relationship between technology
and socioemotional development; to examine the influence of digital tools on this area; to implement technological strategies aimed at promoting balanced and formative use; and to evaluate the effectiveness of a practical proposal based on
technological integration. A mixed descriptive approach was
employed, combining qualitative and quantitative methods through surveys and structured observations applied to teachers, parents, and children. The results showed that the balanced and supervised use of digital tools strengthened communication, cooperation, emotional self-regulation, and children’s creativity, in contrast to the challenges observed in contexts of unregulated exposure. Furthermore, it was found that teacher mediation and family involvement were decisive
factors in guiding technological experiences toward meaningful and emotionally healthy learning. It was concluded that technology, when used with educational purpose and under affective and responsible guidance, constitutes a valuable resource for enhancing the integral and socioemotional development of children in the digital age.
