Abstract

Ecotourism in Colombia is a strategic initiative to promote sustainable development by integrating environmental conservation, community well-being, and economic competitiveness. In this context, ecotourism hotels require management models that integrate strategic planning with emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), to optimize resources and strengthen decision-making. This article analyzes the technical, administrative, strategic, environmental, and infrastructure factors that influence the management of these establishments and their relationship with AI-supported strategic planning. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope and a cross-sectional, non-experimental design. A systematic literature review of academic, regulatory, and technical sources was performed, organized into five categories of analysis, with the aim of identifying trends, best practices, and advances in sustainability and digital transformation within the sector. The results show that the incorporation of AI helps improve the competitiveness of ecotourism destinations through resource monitoring, predictive analytics, and the personalization of the tourist experience. Furthermore, a close relationship was identified among the dimensions analyzed, highlighting sustainability and technological innovation as cross-cutting themes in strategic planning. It is concluded that the integration of AI constitutes a strategic element for strengthening sustainable and resilient management models, aligned with the principles of ecotourism and the Sustainable Development Goals, while presenting challenges in training, smart infrastructure, and public policy.
