Specific immune response to Hepatitis B vaccine

Abstract

The specific immune response is based on defense mechanisms pro-vided by the immune system in the presence of specific pathogens, in this case the hepatitis B virus. This type of immune response involves two fundamental types of cells, such as B lymphocytes and T lym-phocytes, which perform antibody production and cell lysis functions respectively. The analysis of serum antibodies against the Hepatitis B virus was carried out on 1,702 workers at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital, in the city of Guayaquil, between the period of 2021-2022. A descriptive, analytical, cross-sectional and prospec-tive methodology was used. Of 1,702 workers, 68% were women and 32% men. The predominant cohort was between 34 and 40 years old, representing 91% of the total. The majority of participants were heal-th personnel, with 63% of the total, while 37% were administrative personnel in the health area. In 2023, medically important data on immunity among its workers was revealed. The results demonstrated the relevance of booster doses in the immune response, highlighting the high efficacy of the vaccine to achieve active immunity levels. The study concludes with the evaluation of 245 workers in the first period and 1,702 in the second, providing a clear view of how progressive immunization significantly improves protection against hepatitisB.
